What's In My Bag?

Purse // Maurices
This is somewhat of a boring edition to What's In My Bag, but it's more of a "Mama on the go" essentials kit. I do carry different items in my purse for different places or events, but usually I try to stick with just stuff that I need for Josie, a place for my money, chewing gum, my phone and music (music is always a must), and things to keep myself moisturized.
I've had this Element wallet for over 5 years now, I don't know what it is about it, I just refuse to part with it. It's starting to crack from opening it to much so I guess that's my hint to try and look for a new one. The donut wallet that I made earlier this year carries my nail care essentials like nail clippers, a small file, etc. And some Lemony Flutter from Lush to hydrate my cuticles (as well as any dry spot on my skin). Everything else is just your run of the mill purse junk.
I'm doing the #modsummer challenge on Instagram and Wednesday's challenge was a what's in your bag photo, with the chance to win $100 gift card for Modcloth and a Hershel Supply Co bag. Uh, count me in! I've never won anything in my life so this would be a great time for me to start! My photo was kind of plain jane in comparison to others. Some people are SO creative when it comes to photo challenges!
I would love to see some of these posts pop up more often on other blogs - I'm always curious as to what people carry around with them. What's in your bag these days? xo

What's In My Make Up Bag?

I'm not a huge make up fan. Actually, I don't usually wear make up at all. But, I love beauty products. I find myself collecting products if they are on sale just to try them out and then they lay around my bathroom until they expire. There are, however, some items that I end up buying time and time again because I can't get enough of them.
I'm a creature of habit. I will stick to the same couple of brands because I know they work and why waste your money on other brands you're not quite sure about, am I right? The main brand I use is Lush Cosmetics. I just love those bitches. Secondly I really love Burt's Bees for moisturizing because it actually moisturizes me instead of making me feel greasy or dry afterwards. As for make up, there are a few tried and true products that I will never stray away from.
Burt's Bees Baby Bee Body Lotion As I said above, Burt's Bees always makes my skin so soft. This lotion was for Josie but I prefer her night time lotion as the scent isn't as strong at this one. It leaves you smelling like pure honey. Sometimes a plus, sometimes a negative.
Lush Cosmetics The Olive Branch Shower Gel By far, my favourite Lush product so far. I love the smell of bergamot and citrus and this shower gel leaves my skin feeling so soft!
NYC Individual Eyes Eyeshadow Palette I don't normally use eyeshadow, but I like to keep some on hand for special occasions. My mom got me this palette for Christmas. I love the primer that comes with it and I never stray from neutrals.
Rimmel Clean Finish Foundation I never wear foundation. I bought this because it was $3 on sale and I thought it might come in handy. I've used it once. Not to say it's a bad product, I actually really like it. Doesn't leave you looking fake and makes my skin look great.
Burts Bees Pomegranate Lip Balm Turns my lips to silk. I just love it. Josie does too.
Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eyeliner Will never buy another liquid eyeliner ever again. I currently have a brown one because black was sold out at our drugstore, but it still appears black when I wear it. I love the way this eyeliner goes on, it's super easy to draw with and doesn't dry up and flake off.
Maybelline Great Lash Mascara Classic mascara, works great, applies evenly, never clumpy. Why bother with all the crazy intense mascara brushes when you already know this mascara is perfect? Don't try to fix what was never broken.
Lush Cosmetics Gorgeous Moisturizer I got this little trial tin in a gift box, I've been using it for months. It doesn't have the most appealing smell (smells great but gets a little annoying if you smell it all day), but it does make your skin really soft if you use it daily. I don't know if I would pay $85 for the full size tub, but it's nice to have a little bit of it.
Lush Cosmetics Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter This is a nice lemony balm for your cuticles, but I use it for everything. The bottoms of my feet, my elbows, my hands, and any other dry spot on my body. Love this stuff and will continuously buy until the end of time.
NYC Smooth Skin Pressed Powder Another thing I got because it was on sale, but I like using a pressed powder when I know I'm going to have my photo taken because it evens out my skin tone and makes you matte, not shiny. I've had more expensive powders and yes I do prefer them, but if you're only going to use it once in awhile, there's no need to dish out the cash.
Make Up Bag // Forever 21 I usually sew my make up bags but I saw this one at Forever 21 and just had to have it because, who doesn't want a faux leather bear with studded ears?
What's in your make up bag? What are the products you swear by and the ones you steer away from?

WHAT'S IN MY BAG :: SUMMER EDITION

Before I had Josie, I never really carried a purse with me in the summer time. Mainly because I didn't really need much for summer except my phone/iPod and some money and maybe my keys. All these items fit in my pockets, and who wants to have a big heavy bag in the heat? But now that I have a baby there are some things I can't leave the house without so I started carrying around a purse. And now that she's bigger I don't really need our big diaper bag.

So here's what I keep in my little purse for when we go out in the summer time for Josie, and a couple of essentials for myself:

For Josie:
  • Diaper
  • Wipes
  • Cloth
  • Sometimes we bring sunscreen but usually I just cover her in it before we go out
  • Sunglasses, which she usually ends up chewing instead of wearing
For Me:
  • Sunglasses, which change on a daily basis, today we're wearing magenta wayfarers
  • Lush lip gloss
  • Compact mirror
  • Lush lemony flutter for when I feel dry, which is always
  • My wallet which has all my cards, money, business cards and all Josie's cards as well
  • My keys for home and for the post office
  • My iPhone (always with an adorable phone case)
  • Most importantly, my iPod. Above all, this item is a must. Why don't I just put music on my phone, you ask? Because it's only an 8g phone with about 4g space for music and that just isn't enough music for me. (Quick fact about myself: I'm annoyingly anal about the organization of my music and I need full complete albums. My iPod is 16g and that's still not enough. I have problems.)
