JANUARY MAVEN BOX REVIEW

This weekend was a haze for me. I have yet another infection in my mouth and have to wait almost a whole other week until I can finally get in to see a dentist to pull these horrible wisdom teeth. They've given me so much grief, I'll be so glad to get rid of them finally. Needless to say, I've been taking a lot of painkillers which render me basically useless.

Anyway, that's why there was no nail post yesterday. Today I'm doing a review of my Julep Maven box, which actually was sort of  my weekly nail post anyway because I didn't get around to painting my nails. As you may know from a previous post, I am a member of the Julep Maven monthly box club. I opted out of a few because of lack of interest or I had similar colours in my ever growing collection of nail polish. But, I am going to make a habit of following through with my subscription and recently received my January box.

I don't really keep to one beauty profile, I tend to lean towards the boxes with the best nail polish and less make up products. Plus, my Mom is signed up so we always try to get different boxes and share our items. Why not, right?

This month I got the Boho Glam Box and boy am I ever glad I did! Here's what was inside:

I'm going to be honest, I have no idea what to use these sponges for, but I'm sure they'll come in handy eventually. At first I thought they were buffers but the buffers I have are a denser material so I'm just not sure. Oh well.

Hannah is amazing. It's like no colour I've ever used (and I have almost 200 polishes!), such a beautiful muted earthy green and pairs really nicely with light pink, as you saw on last week's nails. I received a lot of compliments for the mani. I haven't had the chance to fully paint my nails with Noelle yet, but I sampled on my thumb and the finish is really nice, almost like a matte. The colour is really feminine and would be really nice for a special evening. I don't have many shimmery polishes so I probably won't use it often, but it's nice to have.

The Quick Dry Drops is a fairly big bottle which is nice because sometimes you buy products like this for $15 and it's only 0.05oz or something crazy like that. I used these on last week's nails. The directions say apply 1 or two drops at least one minute after your last coat of nail polish to each nail. I was surprised when I opened the bottle because the drops are very fragrant. They don't have that chemical smell fast drying top coat does, instead its more of a herbal smell and reminded me of being out in the bush. I applied two drops to each nail and waited about five minutes to test them out. And they were dry! Not completely dry but dry enough to go about my day without having to worry about smudging them. The only downside to these drops is that it's not actually a top coat, so you have to apply your polish, then a top coat and then the drops.

Overall I am pretty happy with this box, I liked getting the nail beauty product as opposed to getting make up. And I love the Hannah polish. Would I have bought all this at the store? Probably not. But it was a nice surprise none the less. I can't wait to see what's in my February Box! Spoiler alert: The reveal was the other day but I can't tell you what it is! Maybe you'll just have to sign up for yourself! Use code FREEBOX to receive your Welcome box for free! (If you email me your email I can refer you and receive Jules points, just saying whaleandwasp at hotmail dot ca)

Spoil yourself, it's worth it!

  1. Ah, that looks like such a fun box to get! I can't seem to find it in me to splurge on one, but I'm trying to slowly convince myself...it looks like you get great quality products!
