Currently Reading

If you're going to read my blog regularly, you're going to notice really quick how obsessed I am with music. More importantly, how obsessed I am with Dave Grohl. I will listen to and read anything that has to do with him. I was extremely excited when this book came out because I love memoirs and auto biographies and books about musicians or the history of music. I immediately purchased this book because

  • Grunge
  • Grunge
  • Grunge
  • Dave Grohl
I skimmed through the photos as soon as I took it off the shelf and was quite happy to see bands that weren't just the Seattle Four. My eyes immediately fell on Andy Wood and I was sold. I'm gonna be honest - this isn't the first time I've read Everybody Loves Our Town. It's not the second time either (or the third, or the fourth). And I'm no rock journalist so I won't go into a highly detailed book report, but, if you're a child of the 80's and 90's, were one of the many obsessed with Nirvana or Pearl Jam, or just love music, I strongly suggest you read this.

Everybody Loves Our Town is full of Seattle history in the words of some of it's biggest stars including Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Mudhoney, Tad, Nirvana, Alice In Chains, as well as Sup Pop founders Bruce Pavitt and Jonathan Poneman. If you're interested in this book or anything to do with the Seattle Scene, I strongly suggest following Mark Yarm's Tumblr, and watch the documentary, Hype!

I thought today would be a good day to start reading it again, as it is the anniversary of Kurt Cobain's death. I was only 5 when it happened but I remember how crazy it was. I can't believe it's been 19 years.
