December My Maven Box + Free Box Promo Code

It's been a while since I've reviewed one of my Julep boxes, I just haven't had any real drive to post about nail polish for some reason (notice an absence of weekly nail posts?). And it's not because I haven't enjoyed them by any means, my November Maven box came with two mascaras, one for length and one for bold, thick lashes, and one of the most beautiful shades of purple I have ever seen. It would have been a great review, but, unfortunately I just wasn't up for the task.
This month is another particularly fantastic month for Julep, as they released the orbital eye shadow set. The colours were gorgeous, it was really hard to choose one! Sometimes I skip the boxes that are more make up based than nail polish, but I recently switched to My Maven subscription. It's an extra couple of bucks but so worth it because it allows you to swap out items you don't like for items you love. I also had saved up my Jules and get a free box, which allowed me to spend a little cash on some add ons.

Because I upgraded my subscription I got to choose the nail polish colours I wanted, and I am pretty obsessed with bronze and rose gold so I was really glad they had shades like that. This collection was clearly made for New Year's Eve, so everything was very rich and glittery. The orbital eye shadows were all really intense, pearlescent shades as well. I chose Airglow because I can wear it for everyday. Which turned out not to be true because it's very glittery. I put it on and felt like Tinkerbell. It's still very pretty but I most likely will only use it for going out. Another bummer about it was that when I opened it the shadow bubble had popped right out and every time I open it, bits of shadow gets all over everything. You can tell in these photos that all the items have glitter on them. 
All the nail polish colours are spectacular. I got Nell as an add on to match Soleil and they are the perfect pair. Soleil isn't quite as rose gold as I had hoped but it looks really sharp none the less. I have yet to try either from Stroke Of Midnight because it was meant to be a gift, but, I fell so in love with Kristy that I can't part with it. Haha! I am currently wearing Sharna as it is my current favourite polish. Can't get enough. 

My free gift with 3 add ons was Blank Canvas - a plumping lip primer that you can wear on its own or under lipstick, It works exactly how it says it's gonna work, except I wouldn't wear it alone as its kind of mattifying and looks weird on my lips. It's not something I would buy on my own, but I'm glad I got it as a gift because I like trying new things. 
Really the only bummer about this box is that I was to receive a mystery colour polish as an add on and ended up with a nail polish remover pen. I actually hate these things because I find them to be quite redundant. Other than that I am really impressed with this box set. Another huge plus is that they have brought back skips for new members. Last year they announced that new members only get to skip a box twice a year, but, switched it to unlimited skips after your first purchase.
