Accidental Haircut

If you follow my Instagram, you know I've been anticipating a hair colour change for almost a month now. You would also already know about how it went horribly wrong. I was so excited to say goodbye to my black tresses and hello to brown to golden ombré. Unfortunately, I was a sad experiment and ended up with a head full of skunk streaks and deep red ends. 100% in the completely wrong direction. I won't go into details, but after two long days of trying to get it right, I chose to dye my super damaged hair back to dark brown and chop off my long locks to get rid of the nightmare on the bottom. The worst part of it all? It was my first time colouring my hair in a salon. My worst fears were met.

As sad as I was to see about a foot of my hair on our stone patio, I was relieved to at least have my hair colour back to normal. A few hours later I came to terms with my short hairdo, when I brushed it and realized how amazingly easier it was to maintain! In a couple months I may strive for a more experienced salon to see if ombré is possible. For now, I am pleasantly surprised by how much I love my new "accidental" hair cut.

Have you ever had a bad experience at a salon? xo

  1. Your hair looks gorgeous! I like the cut and colour on you :) One time, my older sister and I tried to strip the red out of my hair and then dyeing it blonde. Nope. Never from a box again. Nope.
I had to make an emergency visit to a walk-in salon the next morning, and had to even sign a waiver that it won't be their fault if all my hair breaks and falls out. I went bleach blonde that day, and it wasn't too bad. It worked out, but I will never try going blonde from a box again!

    1. Thank you so much! It's growing on me.
I went to salon in the first place as I've only darkened my hair with box dye, never lightened it. My hair has naturally red undertones so I knew it was bad news to try and do it myself. I don't know why this happened but it definitely was a horrible experience. Good thing I had super long hair to cut it.

  2. I went to a professional salon for my ombre that I had about a year ago. It was costly for sure, but well worth the money. Since my hair was so light, I had to get it dyed brown twice (because the first brown turned a bit green...like it had a greenish tint to it) then that set the stage for a darker brown which didn't get a tint to it at all. I'm back to my natural hair color now, but I feel like I wouldn't go anywhere but an expensive salon for hair color! I like the short cut on you though, short hair is way easier to maintain and brush!

    1. See, I knew trying to get the black out of my hair would be half the battle, but I essentially paid a professional salon to screw up my hair and then put back to the original colour and cut off. This woman has apparently been in the business for decades. I wish she would've just talked me out of it instead of severely damaging my hair. Next time, I will definitely do my research of local salons and go to someone who knows what theyre doing.
